Real Estate in St. Charles
Only seven miles from Lambert International Airport, St. Charles is a dynamic city covering an area of 19 square miles.
It is the seat of St. Charles County and is located on the Missouri River near its confluence with the Mississippi. Its history dates to 1765 when it was founded as Les Petites Cotes (The Little Hills) by French Canadian fur trader Louis Blanchette. Incorporated in 1809, the city served as Missouri's first state capitol (1821-26) and today is largely residential in nature.
The first state capitol building, the shops and restaurants along historic South Main Street and the antique shops of Frenchtown draw thousands of tourists to the city each year. Aside from its tourist attractions St. Charles boasts a thriving business community and a very active Chamber of Commerce.
For a city rich in history and French influence, the real estate offering includes a host of architecturally significant homes that date back hundreds of years to newer home developments in neighborhoods and wooded environments.
